The final decision on border crossing is made by border authorities. The carrier / border officers may deny travel if the name on the ticket does not match the document or if the document set is incomplete. Additionally (EU): from 12 October 2025, the EES system (biometric registration) is being gradually introduced at Schengen external borders — this may increase processing time for buses/coaches.

For Ukrainian citizens:
Adults: passport/ID card (or another identity document) and a ticket. Children: birth certificate (or a passport, if already issued). It is recommended that the full name on the ticket matches the document exactly. Note: Diia e-documents are legally equivalent to paper documents in many cases, but the carrier may request a physical document in disputed situations.
For foreign nationals: an international passport or a temporary/permanent residence permit in Ukraine.

For Ukrainian citizens:
Adults: an international passport; additionally — proof of the right to enter the destination country (visa-free eligibility / visa / residence permit / temporary protection document). Children: an international passport is required; a birth certificate is recommended. Medical insurance: mandatory for a Schengen visa. For visa-free travel — not mandatory, but recommended and may be requested during document checks. For residence/temporary protection — if needed.
Military restrictions for Ukrainian citizens:
- Men aged 18–22: expanded departure options have been in place since August 2025. - Men aged 23–60: departure is possible only with legal grounds and supporting documents; military registration documents may be requested during checks.

For Ukrainian citizens:
Adults: international travel documents are used (international passport, etc.). Children: an international passport is required; a birth certificate is recommended.
For foreign nationals:
Adults: an international passport (valid for the entire stay), a visa if required; documents proving the purpose of travel/financial means may also be requested; travel medical insurance is recommended. Children: an international passport; a birth certificate is recommended (to confirm relationship with the accompanying adult).

EU/Schengen citizens: a passport or a national ID card. Non-EU nationals (including Ukrainians): an international passport. If you are in the EU under temporary protection / a residence permit, also carry a document confirming this status. Children: the child must have their own travel document (an international passport or, for EU citizens, a national ID card). A birth certificate is recommended (to confirm relationship with the accompanying adult).
